THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE DURING THE MONTH OF AUGUST 2007 AVERAGED
86.9 DEGREES...WHICH WAS 9.0 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. IT WAS 3.6
DEGREES HOTTER THAN THE HOTTEST AUGUST ON RECORD...WHICH WAS IN
1995...AND THE HOTTEST OF ANY MONTH IN 137 YEARS OF RECORD KEEPING.
PREVIOUSLY...JUNE OF 1952 WAS THE HOTTEST MONTH ON RECORD...WHEN THE
AVERAGE MONTHLY TEMPERATURE WAS 84.7 DEGREES.

THE SUMMER MONTHS OF JUNE THROUGH AUGUST 2007...ENDED UP 4.2 DEGREES
ABOVE NORMAL...WHICH IS THE HOTTEST SINCE 1952.

THERE WERE 15 DAYS OF 100 DEGREES AND ABOVE IN NASHVILLE DURING
AUGUST 2007. THIS IS THE MOST EVER IN THE MONTH OF AUGUST. THE
PREVIOUS RECORD FOR AUGUST WAS 7 DAYS BACK IN 1954.

THE 15 DAYS OF 100 DEGREES AND ABOVE IN NASHVILLE IS ALSO THE MOST
EVER RECORDED IN A SINGLE MONTH. THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS 11 DAYS
BACK IN 1952.

EVEN THE NIGHTTIME TEMPERATURES WERE EXCEPTIONALLY WARM DURING THE
MONTH OF AUGUST.

THERE WERE 8 HIGHEST DAILY MINIMUM TEMPERATURE RECORDS EITHER
TIED OR BROKEN DURING THE MONTH OF AUGUST 2007. THOSE INCLUDE...

AUGUST 9TH...WHEN THE OVERNIGHT LOW OF 81 DEGREES TIED THE PREVIOUS
RECORD SET IN 1930.

AUGUST 10TH...WHEN THE LOW OF 82 DEGREES BROKE THE PREVIOUS RECORD
OF 79 DEGREES SET IN 1918. THIS ALSO IS THE WARMEST NIGHTTIME LOW
EVER RECORDED IN THE MONTH OF AUGUST. THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS 81
DEGREES SET IN 1930.

AUGUST 11TH...WHEN THE LOW OF 77 DEGREES TIED THE PREVIOUS RECORD
SET IN 1934.

AUGUST 17TH...WHEN THE LOW OF 81 DEGREES BROKE THE PREVIOUS RECORD
OF 79 DEGREES SET IN 1995.

AUGUST 21ST...WHEN THE LOW OF 81 DEGREES BROKE THE PREVIOUS

AUGUST 22ND...WHEN THE LOW OF 76 DEGREES TIED THE PREVIOUS RECORD
SET IN 1936.

AUGUST 28TH...WHEN A LOW OF 76 DEGREES TIED THE PREVIOUS RECORD SET
IN 1903.

THERE WAS A RECORD SHATTERING 24 CONSECUTIVE DAYS OF 95 DEGREES
AND ABOVE IN NASHVILLE DURING THE MONTH OF AUGUST 2007. A STRING THAT
BEGAN ON AUGUST 2ND AND ENDED ON AUGUST 25TH. THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS
19 DAYS SET IN JUNE 1952.

THERE WAS ALSO A RECORD SETTING STRING OF 34 DAYS OF 90 DEGREES
AND ABOVE THAT BEGAN ON JULY 26TH AND ENDED ON AUGUST 28TH. THE

MONTHS OF JUNE THROUGH AUGUST HAD A COOLING DEGREE DAY TOTAL OF ONE
THOUSAND...FIVE HUNDRED AND FIFTY SIX. THIS IS THE MOST SINCE THE
SUMMER OF 1952...WHEN A TOTAL OF ONE THOUSAND...SIX HUNDRED AND
FIFTY FOUR...COOLING DEGREE DAYS WAS RECORDED.

THE TWENTY EIGHT COOLING DEGREES DAYS ON AUGUST 9TH...2007 WAS THE
SECOND MOST ON RECORD FOR A SINGLE DAY...AND THE MOST SINCE JULY
14TH...1954 WHICH HAD THIRTY.

RAINFALL IN NASHVILLE FOR AUGUST TOTALED 1.38 INCHES...MAKING IT
THE DRIEST AUGUST SINCE 1996. THE DRIEST AUGUST ON RECORD WAS
BACK IN 1929 WHEN ONLY 0.51 INCHES FELL.

THE SUMMER MONTHS OF JUNE THROUGH AUGUST 2007 WAS THE 3RD DRIEST
ON RECORD IN NASHVILLE...AND THE DRIEST SINCE 1954. FOR JUNE THROUGH
AUGUST...RAINFALL TOTALED 5.22 INCHES. THIS WAS 5.91 INCHES BELOW
NORMAL. THE SUMMER OF 1954 WAS THE DRIEST EVER WITH 4.74 INCHES OF
RAIN...FOLLOWED BY 1925 WITH 4.94 INCHES.

RAINFALL SINCE JANUARY 1ST HAS TOTALED 18.69 INCHES IN NASHVILLE.
THIS IS 13.97 INCHES BELOW THE 30 YEAR NORMAL.
