THE FIRST FULL DAY OF SPRING...ON WEDNESDAY...SAW THE MERCURY SOAR
TO 80 DEGREES AT THE NASHVILLE AIRPORT. MANY OTHER PLACES SAW
WARM TEMPERATURES IN THE MID AND UPPER 70S.

IT IS NOT UNUSUAL FOR THE TEMPERATURE TO HIT 80 DEGREES IN MARCH...
AND SOMETIMES IT REACHES 80 DEGREES EARLY IN THE MONTH. IN THE YEAR
2000...NASHVILLE SAW A HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 80 DEGREES ON THE SEVENTH
AND EIGHTH OF MARCH...WITH AN 81 DEGREE READING ON THE NINTH. IT
WAS ONLY LAST YEAR...ON MARCH TWELFTH...THAT A TOASTY 83 DEGREE
READING OCCURRED IN NASHVILLE.

IF YOU THINK IT IS WARM NOW...YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN AROUND NASHVILLE
ON FEBRUARY THIRTEENTH 1962...WHEN THE HIGH TEMPERATURE SOARED TO
84 DEGREES...MORE THAN A FULL MONTH BEFORE THE START OF SPRING.
