FLOOD STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NASHVILLE TN
620 PM CDT WED AUG 17 2005

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NASHVILLE HAS ISSUED AN URBAN AND
SMALL STREAM FLOOD ADVISORY EFFECTIVE UNTIL 915 PM CDT WEDNESDAY
EVENING FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES
IN TENNESSEE
     TROUSDALE...MACON AND SUMNER

AT 610 PM CDT WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED VERY HEAVY
RAINFALL REACHING AROUND 1.25 INCHES IN ONE HOUR MOVING ACROSS
SUMNER COUNTY. THIS AREA OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL MOVE INTO
MACON AND TROUSDALE COUNTIES.

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM THIS STORM WILL CAUSE FLOODING OF SMALL CREEKS
AND STREAMS...HIGHWAYS AND UNDERPASSES. ADDITIONALLY...COUNTRY ROADS
AND FARMLANDS ALONG THE BANKS OF CREEKS AND STREAMS AND OTHER LOW
LYING AREAS ARE SUBJECT TO FLOODING.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS
SAFELY. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED QUICKLY.
MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.

MOTORISTS SHOULD SLOW DOWN TO AVOID HYDROPLANING AND BECAUSE
OF THE POOR VISIBILITY IN THE HEAVY RAINS.
