...A SOMEWHAT DRY AND WARM JULY...

AT NASHVILLE AIRPORT...THE MONTH OF JULY WAS QUITE DRY...WITH ONLY
2.39 INCHES OF RAINFALL...WHICH IS 1.38 INCHES BELOW NORMAL. MOST OF
THE RAIN...HOWEVER...FELL BETWEEN THE 11TH AND 13TH IN ASSOCIATION
WITH THE REMAINS OF HURRICANE DENNIS. THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE WAS
81.0 DEGREES....WHICH IS 1.9 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THE WARMEST
TEMPERATURE WAS 96 DEGREES ON THE 4TH AND 25TH...WHILE THE COOLEST
WAS 67 DEGREES ON THE 29TH.

THE MIDSTATE STARTED THE MONTH OF JULY QUITE DRY AND THERE WAS TALK
OF A DROUGHT ACROSS MUCH OF THE REGION. THE INTRODUCTION OF
HURRICANE DENNIS AND HIS REMNANTS PUT A STOP TO
THIS...HOWEVER...WHEN DURING THE WEEK OF THE 11TH MANY PLACES
RECEIVED OVER 2 INCHES OF RAIN...AND A FEW PLACES REPORTED UP TO 4
INCHES.

THERE WERE A FEW MINOR SEVERE WEATHER EVENTS...THE STRONGEST OF WHICH
OCCURRED ON THE 27TH WHEN NUMEROUS TREES AND POWER LINES WERE DOWNED
IN WEST MEADE...NEAR NASHVILLE. ALSO OF SIGNIFICANCE WAS A MINOR
HEAT WAVE FROM THE 24TH THROUGH THE 26TH.

CROSSVILLE AVERAGED 75.3 DEGREES FOR THE MONTH...WHICH IS 0.9
DEGREE ABOVE NORMAL. THE TOTAL RAINFALL WAS 6.97 INCHES...WHICH
IS 0.94 INCH ABOVE NORMAL. THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE WAS 90 DEGREES ON
THE 25TH AND 26TH...WHILE THE COLDEST WAS 60 DEGREES ON THE 8TH AND
9TH.

CLARKSVILLE AVERAGED 78.4 DEGREES FOR THE MONTH AND TABULATED 2.71
INCHES OF RAIN. THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE WAS 94 DEGREES ON THE 25TH
AND 26TH...AND THE COLDEST WAS 60 DEGREES ON THE 29TH.
