THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF

       CENTRAL AND NORTHERN ALABAMA
       EASTERN MISSISSIPPI
       SOUTHERN MIDDLE TENNESSEE

EFFECTIVE THIS FRIDAY MORNING AND EVENING FROM 1145 AM UNTIL 600
PM CST.

HAIL TO 2 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 70
MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.

THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 85
STATUTE MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 45 MILES NORTH
NORTHWEST OF HUNTSVILLE ALABAMA TO 40 MILES EAST SOUTHEAST OF
MERIDIAN MISSISSIPPI.  FOR A COMPLETE DEPICTION OF THE WATCH SEE

REMEMBER...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE
FAVORABLE FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH AREA.
PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR THREATENING
WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS AND POSSIBLE
WARNINGS. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY DO PRODUCE
TORNADOES.

DISCUSSION...SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE TO DEVELOP AND MOVE
ENEWD ACROSS WW THIS AFTERNOON AHEAD OF POTENT UPPER SYSTEM...WITH
PRIMARY THREAT OF LARGE HAIL.  AS SURFACE HEATING DESTABILIZES LOW
LEVELS...WIND DAMAGE POTENTIAL WILL ALSO INCREASE AS SHEAR WILL
REMAIN STRONG AND SUPPORT ORGANIZED LINES/SUPERCELLS.  SHOULD
TORNADO THREAT INCREASE AS STORMS BECOME SURFACE-BASED...UPGRADE TO
A TORNADO WATCH MAY BE REQUIRED THIS AFTERNOON FOR PORTIONS OF THIS
REGION.

AVIATION...A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL SURFACE AND ALOFT
