PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NASHVILLE TN
1116 PM CDT MON SEP 6 2004

TROPICAL DEPRESSION FRANCES TURNS MIDDLE TENNESSEE WEATHER AROUND.

DURING NORMAL WEATHER CONDITIONS IN MIDDLE TENNESSEE...SHOWERS
GENERALLY MOVE IN AN EASTERLY DIRECTION. HOWEVER...A TROPICAL WEATHER
SYSTEM IS A HORSE OF DIFFERENT COLOR. WHEN A TROPICAL STORM OR
TROPICAL DEPRESSION MOVES UP FROM THE GULF OF MEXICO...IT SWINGS
BANDS OF RAIN WESTWARD ACROSS OUR AREA. THUS...THE SHOWERS THAT
OCCUR TONIGHT IN THE MID STATE WILL BE MOVING FROM THE EAST...TOWARD
THE WEST.

AT 1000 PM TONIGHT...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL DEPRESSION FRANCES
WAS LOCATED 30 MILES SOUTHWEST OF ALBANY GEORGIA...AND WAS MOVING
NORTH NORTHWEST AT 12 MPH. THE MOST OUTER CLOUD BANDS WERE ALREADY
STARTING TO PUSH UP ACROSS MIDDLE TENNESSEE...ALONG WITH ISOLATED
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS.

MORE WIDESPREAD RAIN IS ANTICIPATED DURING THE DAYLIGHT HOURS
ON TUESDAY...AND EXTENDING INTO WEDNESDAY.
