NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NASHVILLE TN

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NASHVILLE HAS ISSUED A FLOOD WATCH
EFFECT UNTIL 600 AM CST THURSDAY MORNING FOR PEOPLE IN THE
FOLLOWING COUNTIES.

MAURY...WARREN...CANNON...WHITE...DE KALB...CUMBERLAND...
WILLIAMSON...PUTNAM...RUTHERFORD...VAN BUREN...DAVIDSON...SMITH...
CHEATHAM...TROUSDALE...JACKSON...OVERTON...FENTRESS...PICKETT...
CLAY...MACON...ROBERTSON...SUMNER...MARSHALL...COFFEE...BEDFORD...
LEWIS...GRUNDY...WAYNE...LAWRENCE...GILES AND WILSON.

A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM LOCATED OVER THE LOWER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY WILL
MOVE NORTHWARD INTO WESTERN TENNESSEE BY LATE TODAY. THIS WILL
INCREASE THE COVERAGE AND INTENSITY OF RAINFALL OVER THE MIDDLE
TENNESSEE AREA. THE RAINFALL WILL LIKELY CONTINUE THROUGH
THE EVENING HOURS AND BEGIN TO TAPER OFF FROM THE WEST AFTER
MIDNIGHT. WE EXPECT AN ADDITIONAL ONE TO THREE INCHES OF RAINFALL
OVER THE AREA WITH HEAVIEST AMOUNTS EXPECTED IN THE CUMBERLAND
PLATEAU AREA.

THIS RAINFALL WILL LIKELY PRODUCE PONDING OF WATER ON ROADS AND IN
SOME POORLY DRAINED AREAS. SOME RIVERS AND STREAMS MAY ALSO RISE TO
NEAR BANKFULL.

A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR FLOODING OF
STREAMS...CREEKS AND OTHER FLOOD PRONE AREAS. IF YOU ARE IN THE WATCH
AREA...CHECK PREPAREDNESS REQUIREMENTS...KEEP INFORMED...AND BE READY
FOR ACTION IF FLOODING IS OBSERVEDOR IF A FLOOD WARNING IS ISSUED.
